Staffing Rules

This staffing system is a very basic system which provides a method to fairly offer work opportunities to fire suppression personnel. It is based on a count system. Counts are given when work is offered and an acceptance is given.
Points are given as follows:
  • 1 point when user accepts a 24 hour shift.
  • 1/2 point when user accepts a shift less than 24 hours and 12 hours or more.
  • 0 points when user accepts a shift less than 12 hours.
 
Shifts are offered based on the lowest count. Each quarter the count is zeroed out. The tie breaker scheme rewards people who work the small hours requests which are typically difficult to fill.
